One week down...

Well. Week one of Uni over. I am exhausted. I am already starting to drown in work; but i am also getting to watch some fantastic films (Rear Window on 35mm!) and starting to get to grips with my surroundings. Every cloud...

Tonight, i saw Death Race. I went into the cinema with low expectations, and left with them completely intact. I knew the film was never going to be a complex, theme driven blockbuster, (The Dark Knight has truely set a bar. All that action AND The Joker too! haha) the film did comment slightly on the media's ever escalating reality TV fixation, but ultimately it was far more interested in cars being blown up. At times, the predictablity was embarassing. However, i can't say it was a terrible film because it wasn't. It achieved what it set out to do: Crash, smash and bash cars. Visually, the film also had some good moments: The gritty but stylish look established the mood and tone perfectly (although the prison itself couldn't have looked more "Shawshank." Come on, i know it's dystopia but have some imagination!) and the whole second stage sequence was fantastic; unfortunately so good that the finale couldn't match it. So ultimately, Death Race is a macho entertainment flick. The best way i can describe it is Wacky Races...with murder.

I also watched the first episode of the new season of Heroes. Fantastic. I won't spoil it. Just wait until Wednesday to see it!

Time for me to watch episode 2 of Supernatural. Perfect way to end a difficult week! :)

The Boys are back in town!

Hello

I promised a review, and i think it's about time to start!

SUPERNATURAL!!!

I love Supernatural. As the story has built and developed through the seasons, i have been hooked. I admit i only started watching season one as the second season was reaching it's climax, but i caught up and through every ghoul, monster and heroic sacrifice (Because Supernatural loves their hero's sacrificing their souls! haha) i have become a big fan. The show's strengh lies not only in it's astonishing mythology but most importantly in the relationship between the Winchester brothers! Season 3 left us in shock as Dean was unable to escape his deal, and Sam left to mourn his brother.

I can safely say that Lazarus Rising is probably the best episode (Okay, maybe tied with the season 2 finale) of Supernatural i have seen, and definately the best possible start for what looks to be a potentially epic season. I don't want to spoil anything so i won't go into detail, all i will say is it takes things to another level. Those who have seen it know exactly what i mean (I hope! hehe.) The Winchester Brothers seem to be the chosen sons of the supernatural forces, and their destinies are ready to clash. As well as the return of the maginificent Winchesters (Oh and Bobby too. Can't forget Bobby!) a new character, Castiel emerges and has already become one of my favourites!!!

Despite my love for the show, Supernatural was always my second favourite show behind Dexter. But the sheer scale and effortless energy of this season premiere has shot it straight up to my favourite. And this is only the start, with the rest of the season ahead (including the chance to see young Mary and John Winchester! WOO!), i can only see the show getting stronger. I recommend it too everyone. Truely amazing!

So that's my first review. I'm a little rusty so forgive me. It's been a busy day!

That's all from me. Time for me to get my salt loaded shotgun ready. You can never be too careful! :P

The only motivation is insane obsession

Hello.

Umm...How to start? What to say? Ah, i might as well get this out of the way: I love film! Anyone who knows me knows this to be true. All kinds of film. From any time, any place, anyone and any budget. So i am going to give my two cents on new films and occassionally some older films i think deserve some praise, as if i know what the hell i am talking about! haha. That's the joke see.

Anyway. I'll start putting up some film bits and news from the madness i call my "life" soon, but for now, i am going to go watch Supernatural! Perfect way to end the day.

That's it for now. Adios!
